Polly's puppies: the first week

 POLLY'S PUPPIES TO MICKEY

The Goldmali T litter: Papillon D.O.B. 13th of December 2022

 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

After 6 years it was time for a Papillon litter again.

Polly is an absolutely wonderful Papillon, the most outgoing, friendly dog anyone could ever meet. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her.  I am not (and never will be) breeding puppies just for the sake of selling and the aim is always to produce pups that are good examples of their breed in conformation, colour and coat, temperament and good health. Polly is very mismarked so there was always a risk that she'd throw mismarked pups so the plan from day one was to mate her to Mickey who is heavily marked and see what we ended up with. This is it!

13th of December 2022

13th of December 2022 at 5.52 pm the first pup arrived, a dog

At 7.23 pm the second puppy arrived, a bitch.

The dog is the one with tiny little spots, the bitch has one dot on her left hip and her nose is alredy mostly black. "Spotty and Dotty" they are referred to for now.

Later there was a third pup born but sadly he was not alive.

As for the markings, the dog has one ear which is half white but otherwise the pups turned out as hoped!

14th of December: all doing fine. Weight gained.

What's my puppies doing in YOUR bed? wonders Polly. I was trying to get photos.

 15th of December:

I'm fed up with having photos taken!

The pups are really sparkling clean today.

Bitch left, dog right.

Here you can clearly see the dog pup's white ear (above). His tiny little spots I think will end up like

those Polly has on her back: hidden by white fur.

What we won't know for weeks yet is whether the pups are Papillon or Phalene.

Both Polly's parents are Phalenes (drop ears) and Mickey carries the gene and has fathered a Phalene in the past.

16th of December; 3 days old:
We're gaining weight very nicely and keeping warm- there is a heated pad beneath the vetbed.
Dog to the left, bitch to the right.
As soon as I appear to take photos Polly interrupts and says no photos please, I'm protecting my babies from the puparazzi!

When John wants to take a photo however, Polly says "Go ahead!" Pup showing off upside down feeding skills.

17th of December
We're growing a lot!
Dog (the bitch is underneath Polly)

18th of December:
There isn't much difference in what "Dotty and Spotty" are doing or look like, but they are doing very well!

 19th of December:
6 days old already. Bitch to the left, dog to the right.
The bitch has got a little bit of white creeping in on her ears, hopefully it won't be visible.
